AIM - Access for Infants and Mothers

California's Insurance Program for Mid-income Pregnant Women

 

The AIM Program is low-cost health coverage for pregnant women.  Their newborns are covered by the Healthy Families Program.  It has been designed for middle-income families who don’t have health insurance and whose income is too high to qualify for no-cost Medi-Cal.  AIM is also available to those who have health insurance if their deductible or co-payment for maternity services is more than $500.  If you qualify for AIM, your baby is automatically eligible for enrollment in the Healthy Families Program unless your infant is enrolled in employer-sponsored insurance or no-cost full scope Medi-Cal.

Healthy Families is low cost insurance for children and teens.  It provides health, dental and vision coverage to children who do not have insurance and do not qualify for free Medi-Cal.Who may qualify?

Who may qualify?
  • Children up to their 19th birthday.
  • Children in the family without employer-sponsored health insurance in the last three months.
  • Children living in California.
  • Children who are not eligible for or are enrolled in no-cost Medi-Cal.
  • Children who meet citizenship or immigration rules.
  • Children born to mothers enrolled in the Access for Infants and Mothers (AIM) Program, who are not enrolled in the no-cost full scope Medi-Cal Program or employersponsored health insurance.
  • Children in families with incomes within the Healthy Families Guidelines.
